Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, the state’s leader in hospice and palliative care since 1976, highlights the work of Rhode Island artists in its second installation of art within its new facility at 1085 North Main St., Providence.
For this project, Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island will work with Public Art Works, a group of professional Rhode Island-based artists working together to promote and encourage art in public spaces. "Working with Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island is such a unique opportunity that allows this special audience of family, friends and staff a moment to reflect and connect with art during what is most often a very sorrowful time", says Nancy Gaucher-Thomas, a member of PAW.
“There is a profound connection between art and healing,” says Diana Franchitto, President & CEO of Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. “Besides the inherent beauty that each exhibition brings, art creates a sense of peace and joy that can be a powerful healing force. Art enhances well being and can be tremendously uplifting.”
Residing in Riverside, Rhode Island, Hildi Rezendes has always had a special interest in photography. "My love for gardening has grown since childhood. My fondest memories are of my grandmother's beautiful garden in Watertown, MA. In the past two years I have experienced the loss of two sisters. My gardens made them so happy. Hospice care meant so much to my family in those most difficult and painful times."
Although she has no formal training, her colorful photographs of flowers in various stages of bloom during different times of the year are a very personal visual diary. "Welcome To My Garden" is the theme of this exhibit of fifteen photographs that are on display until August.
