Sharing A Spark of Recognition And Connection to Familiar Places is an Exhibit of Oil Paintings by Artist Marjorie Ball at Home

Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, the state’s leader in hospice and palliative care since 1976, highlights the work of Rhode Island artists in its third and final installation of art in 2010 in its 1085 North Main St., Providence.

A group of professional Rhode Island-based artists working together to promote and encourage art in public spaces, Public Art Works began working with HHCRI toward the end of 2009. "The goal, says Nancy Gaucher-Thomas, a member of PAW, is to highlight work on a rotating basis of art by RI artists in what is a very unique opportunity. The members of PAW are pleased with the heartfelt response from staff and visitors of the facility."

“There is a profound connection between art and healing,” says Diana Franchitto, President & CEO of Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. “Besides the inherent beauty that each exhibition brings, art creates a sense of peace and joy that can be a powerful healing force. Art enhances well being and can be tremendously uplifting.”

Residing in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, artist Marjorie Ball is particularly drawn to scenes that depict the light and forms of New England. "My painting subjects are the afternoon sun as it warms up the side of a white home, the lights of a city, the feeling of the swoop of the highway curving past homes lined up along its edge. A quiet place like a marsh at midday becomes meditation on our connection to nature. The goal of my landscapes is to share the spark of recognition of and connection to familiar places. They are universal" says Ball of her work.

With a BFA from Syracuse University, Ms. Balls work has won numerous awards and is in collections across the country. Oil paintings by Ms. Ball will be on display through December 2010.
