Daniel Forster
Daniel joined the Art Club as an Exhibiting Artist Member in 2019. Soon after, he also received the great honor of being accepted into our highly competitive National Open Juried Exhibition, where his photo was also recognized with the Dr. Stanley Summer Award for Photography.
A native of Switzerland, Daniel Forster started his freelance career at the 1972 Olympic Games, after completing an internship at a photography studio in Berne, Switzerland. In 1988 he moved from Switzerland to Rhode Island, USA. He is currently based in Jamestown, which allows him close access to his subject of choice: yachting events and marine content.
A prolific photographer, Daniel has photographed the last 14 America’s Cups, from 1977 to 2024, and 12 Olympic Games from 1972 to 2016. In 1986/87 TIME magazine sent him for five months to Perth, Australia for the America’s Cup. His photograph of Dennis Conner winning the America’s Cup appeared on TIME’s cover.
Daniel is presently documenting Yachting Events for event or yacht sponsors, international magazines, US Sailing, and producing books for yacht owners.He is a correspondent for Yachting magazines in the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Switzerland.
